Apple introduced their new Macbook Pro on Monday, and the hot topic of conversation was its astounding 5.1 million pixel Retina display. While most people asked about the price, the portability, or the battery life, my immediate response was, "What does it mean for web design?"
The answer? More of the same, mostly, but with a little innovation.
Like other companies on the industry's leading edge, Amazee Labs has been geared up for these challenges for some time now, utilizing responsive web design and similar technologies to ensure a website looks good and performs well on any device, even those that have yet to be invented.
Keeping up with these new ultra hi-res displays won't be difficult if we stick to what we know and continue to adopt best practices:
Web type will keep our text sharp and readable.
Where pixelated bitmap images fall short, CSS techniques will keep our interface design crisp and user friendly.
Working with new technologies like font icons will save our icons from a fuzzy, un-scalable death.
Continuing to perfect responsive imagery will result in a solution that serves optimal images to every device with performance in mind.
Devices will continue to evolve and companies like Apple will never stop trying to invent products that make web designers squirm. And all the while, Amazee Labs and the development community will work towards a web that is completely device independent, so that when the next big thing hits the market, we've got it covered.
Good day! I simply wish to give a huge thumbs up for the nice info
you have got here on this post. I will probably be coming again to your weblog for more soon.
